FIDE announced that the FIDE World Cup for Under 8, 10, and 12 will take
place in Batumi, Georgia, from June 22 to July 3, 2024. This prestigious event
will feature six categories: Under 8, Under 10, and Under 12, with separate
Open and Girls events. Each category will have a limited number of 48 players.
The tournament will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: A 7-round Swiss tournament.
Stage 2: Players finishing in the same position in each group will compete
against each other.
A total of 288 players (48 players per category across 6 categories) will
participate. Currently, 228 players are registered, with an additional 28
players in the registration process.
Due to the overlap with the African Youth Championship, many African
spots are still available. the following are opened:
Open Under 8: 2 spots
Open Under 10: 4 spots
Open Under 12: 2 spots
Girls Under 8: 9 spots
Girls Under 10: 8 spots
Girls Under 12: 8 spots
High-rated players can join this prestigious event.
Registration is open through National Federations and, in some cases, individuals until May 29, 18:00 CET.
